NEMZZZ
Manchester prodigy Nemzzz at Dour Festival on July 18!
Manchester-born Nemzzz is one of the rising stars of the British rap scene. Born in Gorton, a working-class district of the city, Nemiah Simms grew up in a home bathed in music thanks to his parents: a producer mother and a reggae and bashment singer father. With her deep Jamaican roots, Nemzzz has developed a sound that reflects her origins as much as her urban environment.
It was in 2018 that Nemzzz took his first steps into rap, practicing on instrumentals found on YouTube. His first major hit, “Elevate”, released in 2021, quickly propelled him into the spotlight. This viral track, accompanied by a video directed by GRM Daily, marked the start of a promising career. The momentum continued with “2MS” in 2022, consolidating his place in the musical landscape. Collaborations with Stay Flee Get Lizzy, Knucks and other influential artists expanded his audience and reinforced his status.
In May 2023, he unveiled his “Nemzzz Type Beat” EP, a project that already heralded a maturing talent.
October 2023 marked a new stage in the artist’s career with the release of “Money and Vibes”, the first single from his long-awaited mixtape, “Do Not Disturb”. Followed by standout tracks like “8AM In Manny” and “Therapy”, the artist won the attention of big names like Drake. In March 2024, the mixtape was released, accompanied by a deluxe edition featuring collaborations with heavyweights such as K-Trap, Headie One and Lil Yachty. “Do Not Disturb” quickly climbed to the top of the UK R&B Albums Chart, proving that Nemzzz was no longer just a rookie, but a force to be reckoned with.
At just 20, Nemzzz stands out for his authentic approach, choosing to explore themes such as financial challenges, toxic relationships and the effects of social media on mental health. His almost conversational tracks sound like confidences. His warm flow and ability to tell personal stories make him a unique voice on the UK scene.
Between his prestigious collaborations and his ability to reach a wide audience, there’s no doubt: Nemzzz is ready to conquer, if he hasn’t already, the Dour Festival audience on July 18.
